I started taking portraits for my friends and family when I was in college, albeit somewhat accidentally. During photo assignments for a class, I’d often run into friends on campus or around town and offer to take their picture. And soon I realized how happy it makes someone to have a portrait of themselves. Maybe they simply wanted a new profile picture, or something to finally replace that photo from first grade picture day that’s still hanging up at home. Either way, that moment when someone’s face lights up as they see their picture for the first time — that’s why I love portrait photography.

Beyond portraits, I nerd out over film photography and I enjoy taking pictures of nature, landscapes, and architecture. I’m always the designated photographer among my friends, and I try to have my camera with my wherever I go. Whether I’m walking around my neighborhood in Manhattan or traveling to a new destination, carrying my camera inspires me to find and capture beautiful moments hiding in plain sight.
